Edinburgh in August is a festival city, with more going on than most anyone could absorb. Running concurrently were the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The Fringe Festival features theatre, comedy, music, dance, performance art, and visual art at more than 200 venues across Edinburgh running from mid-morning until late at night, spilling over into street performances, with artists from around the globe - some famous and established, some looking to revive a lagging career, others looking to be "discovered", and many others just there for the experience.
